Ride KY's longest rail trail from the Royalton Trailhead over to Hager Hill. Stop for gas station food at Hager Hill and head back to Royalton for
35 miles. Then ride up to the closed tunnel on the unfinished portion and return for 50 miles total. There aren't opportunities for food/water along the route until Hager Hill, so arrive hydrated and be prepared to carry your water/food. The trail surface is crushed limestone but skinny road tires are not recommended. Cross tires or wider are your best bet.
From Lexington: I-64 to the Mountain Parkway. Exit 75 (Salyersville) and turn right onto Route 7. Stay on Route 7 for 7 miles and arrive in Royalton. The new trailhead with a large parking lot is on the right just before Royalton. If you see the new Dollar General Store in Royalton, you have gone too far.
